Part 1: Summoner Basics

Summoner Basics
Summoner Basics

A summoner is a class that utilizes pets to inflict damage at enemies. The pets are basically the summoner’s weapon, with their own stats and Photon Arts (PA). Pets are most damaging when using Summoner main as the class have a couple of ways to raise the pet damage. Being a Summoner is relatively more expensive compared to other classes: instead of eating up your assets, it will directly eat your Meseta, time, and your precious SG.

Starting as Summoner

Getting Started
Getting Started

If you're new, you should follow the ARKS Mission since it will lead you to this 3 important things:
  • Meeting Pietro on the Gate Area; he is mentor for Summoner Class. Activities you can do with Pietro includes:
    • Request Limit Break, for rarity ★12 and above.
      • Pet needs to be L100 to utilize Limit Break
      • Allows ★12 pet to attain L110, ★13 to L120, ★14 to L130
      • Pet will grow depressingly slow above L100
    • Client Orders
      • They Grow Up So Fast! (Partner Card)
      • Become a Top-Notch Summoner (5 SP)
      • Let's Master the Summoner! (5 SP)
      • Summoner Supremacy I, II, III, and IV (1 SP each, requires a total of 10 Su Excubes)
      • My Gallant Wanda! (Two Layer Pancake)
        • This maybe the only reason to keep a Wanda
      • My Gallant Jinga! (Vin-Spi Candy Stick)
      • My Gallant Popple! (Critical Candy Stick)
  • Meeting Ariel in the Shop Area, next to Monica / Dudu; she facilitates various pet enhancement activities. Activities that you can do with Ariel includes:
    • Candy Compression, reduces the size of candies
      • Requires Grinders for ★12 or less candies, requires Lambda Grinders for ★13 candies
    • Pet Goods Shop, exchange various items to obtain candies and tools
      • You can exchange for Grinders for Candy Eraser (deletes Candy) and Excubes for Caramel Crusher (deletes Caramel Cubes)
    • Evolve Pet Rarity, more info on pet's rarity below.
    • Return Pet to egg, this will destroy their entire candy box. Returned pet egg is untradable. If you hatch a returned egg, it will respawn the Caramel Cubes.
  • Do Summoner Tutorial Quest at the Quest Counter to know the basic way on how Summoner fights

Mag Basics

Mag Basics
Mag Basics

At a certain point early in the game, you will get a Mag. If you are to use Summoner as-is. You will want a 200 T-ATK Mag (unless you plan to sub Bouncer or Phantom, see below). Only increase the T-ATK on your mag, and nothing else.

Although Summoner can use S-ATK or R-ATK for pets, focusing on T-ATK is easier for the endgame:

  • T-ATK affixes are cheaper than R-ATK or S-ATK.
  • Mag will have PP Restore J action which boosts PP regeneration at certain interval. While unreliable, it's life-saving when active.
  • Resta, or healing depends on T-ATK only.
  • Rappy Melody's heals depends on their and character's T-ATK
  • Rykros Staff's Potential.pngGlance of Darkness depends on character's T-ATK.

When in doubt, fill you Mag with T-ATK using tech weapon like Staff, Wand, Talis, or Jet Boots. Reduce its Dex by feeding it with Trimate or ★6 Room Goods. Never let any other stat gains a single level!

Focusing on S-ATK (Not Recommended): As Fi, you might be tempted to focus on SATK, but the only skill that take advantage from this is Fi's Crazy Beat, and in normal circumstances, this skill rarely activates. It will be useful against solo aggressive bosses like XQ Phantom, Masquerade, or EP4 Duel Phaleg, but outside of that, it does little service.

Focusing on DEX: This allows you to take advantage of Bo and Ph mag, giving you access to the 2 most powerful Su subs, but its payoff is really long as you need 2 Level 75 classes to unlock Phantom, on top of requiring weapons to raise Ph, and starting as SuBo isn't really recommended due to the hassle it comes with.

Fixing Mag

Fixing Mag
Fixing Mag

If you messed up your mag's stat, you can fix them by using a Mag Level Down Device, which costs 5 Excubes. Excubes are rare commodity until you can do XH+ Quests which requires level 80.

Getting Eggs via Collection Files (CF)

Collection File Eggs
Collection File Eggs

Where would you get a decent pet egg? Enter the Collection Files (CF) that Ms. Pudding provides. CF is basically killing specified target mobs until you gain a required item; once you obtained all required items, you will automatically get the reward item. For example, to get a ★13 Jinga from the Summoner Support CF, you need to obtain 6 items from killing any enemy, Mechs, and Blu Ringahda. This is very easy to do, particularly because all enemies required for the items can be found on the Quarry.

CF has few quirks including:

  • CF required item increase rate can be boosted by using Rare Drop Rate, Tri Boost, and anything that boosts rare drop
  • CF required item gauge will only increase if you clear the quest. If you kill enemies and abandon quest, the CF will not raise.
  • On normal circumstance, a CF required item will only drop if you start a quest at 100% gauge. Simply put, you need to have at least 2 runs for a CF item to drop: 1 run to max it to 100%, the other is to drop the items. If you start the quest with the gauge at 99.99%, the item will not drop and clearing the quest will simply put the gauge to 100%.

When in doubt, always use Wanda/Jinga first as they are the safest pet to use.

Part 2: Character

Progression

Summoner Progression
Summoner Progression

Your main progress as a Summoner should be as follow:

  • Have a Light-attributed Jinga fully raised, i.e. full candy box, and at L130
  • Have a Light-attributed Melon fully raised
  • Have a Light-attributed Synchro fully raised
  • Have a Rykros Staff +30, easiest to obtain from trading 500 Conqueror Crest at Zieg's Conqueror Crest Exhcange
    • You can accomplish this by trading 63 Sage Crest into 504 Conqueror Crest, also at Zieg's Sage Crest Exchange
  • Have 3 ★13 unit with 100 T-ATK and 25 PP each
    • In the example above, the base unit is a Schvelle which has 50 ATK and 12 PP by default. The ability options adds 120 T-ATK and 10 PP, making it has a total of 170 T-ATK and 22 PP. This is less than the ideal 25 PP, but it can still work.
  • Have 200 PP and become SuPh, the best class combo available for Summoner.
    • In normal circumstance, especially for beginners, you start with 100 PP. L90 Summoner is can get 5 PP from PP Up skill. Ph sub gives additional 20 PP from PP High Up skill. This totals to 125 PP base, so you need 75 from equipment, which is why your 3 units ideally need to have 25 PP each to attain 200 PP total. There are other ways to gain PP, such as putting Spirita Cookie to your Pet's Candy Box
    • You don't need 200 PP if you aren't using Ph sub.

Summoner Class Skills

Summoner Skill Tree
Summoner Skill Tree

Below is a table of all Summoner skills. The SP column is the recommended SP spent on the skill. The color coded is as follows:

  • ■ Skills that must be taken
  • ■ Skills that is nice to have, but in low priority overall. Take them only if all the magenta skills are learned.
  • ■ Skills that is in very low priority, but great if you want to use Su as a sub-class.
  • Step Jump, First Arts JA Action, Air Reversal, J Reversal JA Combo, Next Jump does not cost SP and should be taken immediately whenever possible.

Icon Skill Name Notes SP
SuSkillHPUp.png HP Up
HP High Up
Increases HP. Do not max either skill unless your Summoner skill tree is for sub-classing. 1
SuSkillHPRestorate.png HP Restorate Recovers a portion of HP every 5 seconds after a certain threshold. Do not max this unless your Summoner skill tree is for sub-classing; on a sub tree, this skill works wonders! 1
SuSkillQuickRecovery.png Quick Recovery Reduces the time of bad status effect on character. Not really worth it. 0
SuSkillMassiveMate.png Massive Mate Prevent flinching and reduces damage when using Mate items. Not worth it at all since you can create an Atomizer Lover Ring which grants you invulnerability instead. 0
SuSkillAssistShare.png Assist Share Main Class only. Allows switched pet to retain all buffs of the previous pet. 1
SuSkillPetSwitchStrike.png SuSkillPetSwitchShoot.png Pet Switch Strike
Pet Switch Shoot
Main Class only. Allows S-ATK or R-ATK to be used in damage formula instead of T-ATK
※ Only take if character’s S-ATK or R-ATK is higher than T-ATK
※ Only change the formula used to calculate damage. Pet damage is always Tech.
※ Only one can be activated
※ Does not affect Glance of Darkness
0
SuSkillAllAttackBonus.png All Attack Bonus 1
All Attack Bonus 2
Each skill multiplies damage by 115%, for a total of 132.25% damage (115% * 115%). 10
SuSkillDearMaster.png Dear Master Upon player receiving a killing blow, player will survive with invulnerability and the killing blow will be delivered to pet instead. On most instance you won't need this unless you want to abuse it. If you want to abuse it, max it. 0 or 5
SuSkillPetSympathy.png Pet Sympathy Main Class only. Pet will ask for Shifta during attacks (higher chance on E-Trials or when attacking bosses) and Resta when low on HP. Fulfilling Shifta request will multiply pet damage by 120% at L10, while Resta will double the amount of heal the pet receives. Lasts 90 seconds. 10
SuSkillHarmonizeUp.png Harmonize Up Main Class only. Increase the chance of pet requesting Sympathy. At first, spend only 1 points until you get more SP to get 5. 1 then 5
SuSkillSympathyTime.png Sympathy Time Main Class only. Increases the duration of Sympathy to be 180 seconds at L5. You will not want a gap in your Sympathy buff, since you are recommended to take 1 Harmonize Up. 5
SuSkillEasySympathy.png Easy Sympathy Main Class only. Extends the window when pet asks for Sympathy by 10 seconds, making it 20 seconds total. This skill is crucial if you cannot fulfill Sympathy immediately, such as during downtime of bosses. 1
SuSkillLongDistanceLove.png Long Distance Love Main Class only. You can fulfill Sympathy needs even if the pet is far away. This 1 SP removes the need to constantly return your pet to your side. 1
SuSkillPointAssist.png Point Assist Gives a mark on an enemy part. Upon hitting the said part, damage is multiplied by 115% for both pet and character. 10
SuSkillSupportFire.png Support Fire Increases damage to all parts of the enemy affected by point assist by 110%. If a part is marked with Point Assist and you have Support Fire, that part will take a total of 126.5% damage (115% * 110%). If you mark a part with Point Assist and you attack a different part, that different part will take 110% damage. 1
SuSkillPetPhotonBarrier.png Pet Photon Barrier Reduces damage to pets. On most bosses, pet doesn't get hit too much. This can be a lifesaver for pets with lesser durability, like Torim, Aero, Synchro, Or Redran 0 or 5
SuSkillPetRecovery.png Pet Recovery Main class only. Recovers a small percentage of pet HP every 5 seconds. Between the must-take 3 SP and maxed 5 SP, there's only 1% difference. 3
SuSkillReserveRecovery.png Reserve Recovery Increases the recovery speed of non-active pet. This can be handy, but unfortunately, it doesn't shorten pet's stunned duration. 0
SuSkillPetElementWeakHit.png Pet Element Weak Hit Increases damage when attacking enemies with their elemental weakness. Pet attacks are multiplied by 110%, while character is multiplied by 105% instead. 5
SuSkillPetElementPPRestorate.png Pet Element PP Restorate Main class only. Increases PP gained with pet normal attacks when attacking enemies with their elemental weakness. This skill is required if you are to use high-output pets like Synchro. 5
SuSkillPPUp.png PP Up 1
PP Up 2
Increases maximum PP. Dump the rest of your SP here. 0
SuSkillAllAttackUp.png All Attack Up
All Attack High Up
Raises your attack by 200 if you spend all 15 points in it. 15
SuSkillAllDefenseUp.png All Defense Up
All Defense High Up
Raises your defense by 200 and DEX by 100 if you spend all 15 points in it. Only take if you use Su as a sub class. 0
SuSkillPBAdvance.png PB Advance Increases PB power. Will do nothing if you have Ketos Proi. 0
SuSkillAlterEgo.png Alter Ego Main Class only. The premier boss masher skill on Summoner. Multiplies damage by 120%, but you will also take a portion of damage that the pet takes. The damage taken can be mitigated if the character is invulnerable, e.g. during Mirage Step. However, your character is not invulnerable during a knocked-down state. (leading to something I call "Summoner Blues") 10
SuSkillAllAttackBonus.png High Level Bonus Su Requires L80 Su. Multiplies all damage by 105% 5
SuSkillAlterEgoHarmony.png Alter Ego Harmony Requires L85 Su. Main Class only. Requires no SP. Grants character super armor and status immunity during Alter Ego. All damage received by pet and character is massively cut, including the amount of damage you take if pet takes damage. This skills adds extra breathing space for low defense pet and make high defense pet practically invulnerable. -

Dear Master Exploit

Exploiting the mechanic of Dear master, can grant you infinite HP. I personally think this gives Summoner unfair advantage in "high difficulty quest" (which enemy just do excessive damage), but to each their own. Dear Master, as noted, transfers the damage to pet and gives you invulnerability, essentially adding pet's HP to yours. This redirected damage can be mitigated:

  • Triggering Maron/Melon's Fierce personality that recovers HP (by extension, also their Cute personality)
  • Triggering Jinga's Fervent personality (by extension, also their Powerful personality)

This will allow you to counter and subdue aggressive bosses like Phaleg or Omega Masquerade easily, especially since healing to pet is never nerfed.

Contrary of what I've written before, the damage transferred to pet is:

  • Not subject to pet defense or damage cuts and is applied as-is. You can try this by seeing that Melon mostly take 1 damage from EP4 Phaleg, and when Dear Master triggers, they take hundreds of damage.
  • Not subject to guard frames or invulnerability frames, e.g. it will still hit Synchro during Kyaku and Viola during Change.

I apologize for the error and the misconception I've caused.

Melon takes 1 damage from Phaleg's stun attack.
Melon takes 1 damage from Phaleg's stun attack.
Melon takes 319 is the transferred damage as well as 1 damage since it also get hit.
Melon takes 319 is the transferred damage as well as 1 damage since it also get hit.
Viola takes 483 damage during Viola Change, which is an invulnerable state
Viola takes 483 damage during Viola Change, which is an invulnerable state
Synchro takes 513 damage during Synchro Kyaku, which is a guard frame state
Synchro takes 513 damage during Synchro Kyaku, which is a guard frame state

Class Combination

Summoner Subclass
Summoner Subclass

Summoner has 4 viable subclasses: the common Fighter and Phantom, and the more niche Braver and Bouncer:
  • SuFi: Most common combination. Best combination if Ph is not yet available
  • SuPh: The premier combo for everything. It is stronger than SuFi with great PP regeneration, but requires the character to have 200 PP
  • SuBr: Great for beginners, especially players new to Summoner and new to PSO2
  • SuBo: Has good PP regen and strong against breakable parts, but difficult to use.

All multipliers listed are not counting High Level Bonus, which is a must-take. The "Damage Rating" stated is based on critical builds, whose explanation can be found after this section.

Summoner-Fighter (SuFi)

Recommended for all skill levels. SuFi has the highest stance multiplier and less likely need to switch stance, but offers little compensation once PP runs out and has lowest critical rate (means your base damage will be lower). Despite this, SuFi remains well-rounded and is a good choice towards end-game, especially if Phantom is not available.

Property Description
Damage rating 174.09% (Brave Stance), 198.40% (Wise Stance)Explanation
PP management Normal
Ease of use Moderate
Usage note Abusing Dear Master on overly-aggressive bosses allows you to activate Slayer skills perpetually.
Skills Description
Brave Stance 154% front-attack damage (135% on rear-attack), +25% critical rate.
The Brave Stance depends on the point of the part pet attacks compared to the enemy's body.
E.g.: Brave Stance works when attacking Dragon's front leg from any position (including from rear!), but will not work when attacking dragon's hind leg from any position (including from the front!).
Wise Stance 175.5% rear-attack damage (100% on front attack), +25% critical rate. While powerful, this has a very limited uses, particularly only against Dark Falz Elder, and for attacking Quent Dragon's hind legs and tail.
Chase Advance Plus 115% damage to target with certain status effect.
Pets that inflicts status effects are: Wanda/Jinga (Shock: Stun), Viola (Stamp: Stun), Maron/Melon (Strike: Stun), Synchro (Dan: Bind, Geki: Stun).
Popple's Jellen does not count.
PP Slayer Additional 200 ATK when PP is below 50%.
Adrenaline Shifta and Deband is now 30 seconds per tick. Applies to pet too.
Halfline and Deadline Slayers Additional 150ATK + 100 ATK if character's HP is 25% or less.

Summoner-Phantom (SuPh)

The final destination of Summoner. SuPh has high multiplier, high PP regeneration, and no stances, making it easy to use. In every way, compared to other subs, Ph stands superior as an all rounder. However, it requires 200 PP to be effective, 2 level 75 classes to unlock Ph, and Ph weaponry to sustain its leveling since Ph cannot have a subclass.

Property Description
Damage rating 185.22%Explanation
PP management Easy
Ease of use Easy
Usage note Requires 200 PP. The only sub class that allows easier use of Redran.
Skills Description
All Attack Bonus Ph 135% damage when using pets
Photon Stream 110% damage if PP is at least 200. Comes from 5% * 200 = 10%
Critical Stream Critical rate increases by 20% of max PP. Critical damage increases by 3% of max PP.
This skill caps rate at 60% (300 PP) and damage at 5% (167 PP). At 200 PP, your critical rate should be 40%.
Phantom PP Restorate Increases natural PP regeneration by 30% and Attack PP restoration by 30%
Tech Short Charge Shortens Technic charge by 50%, and lowers PP cost by 30%, but also lowers its damage. This is useful to quickly cast Zanverse, Megiverse, Resta, and Shifta. This skill used to lower the damage of Glance of Darkness, but it has been patched.
PP High Up +20 max PP. This helps to attain the 200PP requirement, if not surpass it.
Sprint Tech Charge Allows faster movement while charging Technics. This is not required, but can be useful especially if you don't use crafted techs.
Phantom Mag Feed your mag with DEX, and S-ATK, R-ATK, and T-ATK will also get filled at 1:1 ratio.

Summoner-Braver (SuBr)

Recommended for beginners. SuBr has the easiest usage, but relatively lacks output. This is compensated by Attack Advance which, on several pets, provides a PA-powered normal attacks with 0 PP usage. This contributes to its beginner-friendly nature as newbies tend to use normal attacks a lot. SuBr is best when fighting bosses whose weak point is exposed for a long time to warrant Weak Stance activation, such as Dark Falz Elder, Quent Dragon, Dark Falz Persona, Demoire Dominus, and Veiled Fordruss.

Property Description
Damage rating 154.06% (Average Stance with Attack Advance), 180.86% (Weak Stance with Attack Advance)Explanation
PP management Normal
Ease of use Easy
Best compatibility Rappy. If your Rappy has Spirited Parfait (はりきりパフェ), you can just use normal attacks since it will become Rappy's top DPS move, being only slightly (~5%) less powerful than Rappy End with S Charge.
Usage note With a strong normal attack pets, Near Auto Target, Attack Advance, and Spirited Parfait, you can just wave your takt once and cruise through any fields without using PAs.
Skills Description
Average Stance 126.5% damage, +25% critical rate
Weak Stance 149.5% weak-point damage, +25% critical rate
S Charge (on Brave and Weak Stance) 110% damage for charge skills.
Eligible skills are Popple Plode, Torim/Aero Spiral, and Rappy End
Attack Advance 135% damage from normal attacks
J Reversal Cover Restores 20% HP upon reversal. This skill oftentimes a lifesaver. If you are using the Brave tree for a Braver weapon, you might want to pass this skill.

Summoner-Bouncer (SuBo)

SuBo has a superior PP regeneration mechanism. They are the only sub-class that allows Summonner to reach 100% critical without external help (means your base damage is all-time highest). While it does not have high multiplier compared to Fi, its PP regeneration is more than enough to make it up, even with only Elemental Stance; this means that you will need to get used to PA constantly. Unfortunately, using SuBo means you require extra palette slot to accommodate Fields, and you will be required to maintain your Shifta and Deband. SuBo is best when fighting bosses whose break point is exposed for a long time to warrant Break Stance activation, such as Dark/Omega Falz Luther, Profound/Unfathomable Darkness, Magatsu, Quent Dragon, and Dark Falz Persona.

Property Description
Damage rating 165.00% (Elemental Stance), 185.62% (Break Stance) Explanation
PP management Easy
Ease of use Hard
Best compatibility Synchro. Use Rykros Staff for maximum effectiveness.
Usage note If you need to create elemental pets to take advantage of Elemental Stance, Wanda or Jinga would be the best choice.
If you don't have elemental Pets, SuBo is less effective on multi-elemental weakness EQs, such as the Seasonal EQs.
Skills Description
Elemental Stance 132% damage on elemental weakness hit (110% on normal), +25% critical rate
Break Stance 149.5% damage on breakable parts (100% on normal), +25% critical rate
Critical Field Critical Rate +30%
Elemental PP Restorate Field Restores 3 PP every normal attack if you hit an elemental weakness.
Field Remain Pet needs to be inside the field to have its effect. This skill allows pet to exit the field and retains the field's effect for 30s.
Shifta Air Attack Boost 105% damage during Shifta when attacking mid-air. All of pets' attacks and PAs are counted as mid-air atacks.
Deband PP Restorate Restores 5 PP during Deband when using a normal attack.
Somehow, Potential.pngGlance of Darkness counts as a normal attack and will restore 5 PP if the character has Deband.
J Reversal PP Gain Recovers 20% PP during just reversal
Bouncer Mag Feed your mag with DEX, and S-ATK and T-ATK will also get filled at 1:1 ratio.

Obsolesce Warning: SuBo's main appeal used to be higher critical ratio than any other class. This, however was rendered obsolete by the combination of Exquisite Deadly Parfait and S6 Wise Skill, which grants more critical rate. Coupled with it's high maintenance gameplay, this sub now offers little incentive against target without breakable part, especially if compared to SuPh.

Other Class Combinations

Other than Fi, Ph, Br, and Bo, no other class combination works for Su:
Sub Multiplier with Critical Ring
Hunter 100.00%
Force (Photon Flare) 120.92%
Techer (Elemental Weak) 137.61%
Etoile 143.67%
Etoile (Tech Attack Count Bonus) 165.22%
  • Su doesn't have JA, which means SuHu and SuEt will not work:
    • SuHu gains nothing from JA Bonus; Fury Stance only boost Striking and Ranged while all Pet attacks are considered Tech (regardless of Switch skills)
    • SuEt cannot activate Flat Attack bonus because this skill only applies to missing JA on attacks that have JA. Pet attacks have no JA
    • SuEt doesn't gain any critical rate from Etoile tree, making its base damage lower.
    • SuEt with Tech Attack Count Bonus is incompatible with a lot of pets' combo which involve using a single attack repeatedly
  • Pet attacks, while always do Tech damage, is not a Technic:
    • Elemental Mastery (e.g. Fire Mastery, Light Mastery, etc.) skills are invalid due to only working for Technics
    • Similarly, SuFo cannot activate any Tech Advance skills (Normal Tech Advance, Tech Charge Advance, Tech JA Advance)

Techer-Summoner (TeSu)

An alternative for Techers who dislikes using Wands. TeSu allows you to buff allies while capable of dishing out damage from a safe distance. While you have pets, it is always a good idea to have a Wand as a side weapon. Lavis Cannon is a recommended side arm due to its usage simplicity and almost make Heavy Hammer unneeded.

Property Description
Shifta Advance
Shifta Critical
Shifta Strike
Increases the potency of Shifta, granting it a total of 24.625% more base ATK, along with 20% critical rate and 110% damage.
Deband Advance
Deband Cut
Deband Toughness
Increases the potency of Deband, granting it a total of 24.625% more base DEF, along with -15% damage reduction and 125% maximum HP increase.
Element Weak Hit 120% damage on elemental weakness hit.
Long-time Assist +30s per-tick duration for Shifta and Deband, for a total of 45s.
PP Restorate Increases passive PP regneration rate by 140%. PP regeneration further increases to 350% if character is on the ground and doesn't move for at least 1 second.
Resta Advance 120% Resta healing.
Rebirth Bonus Applies Shifta and Deband at maximum duration to a revived target.
Tech Up 1
Tech Up 2
Increases TATK by 50 and 75.
Super Treatment Grants 25% HP recovery and +3 PP regeneration to character and all healed allies upon healing status ailments.
Territory Burst Horizontal area of effect increase for support skills: Shifta, Deband, Resta, Anti, Megiverse, Zanverse, Zondeel.
Wide Support Further horizontal and vertical area of effect increase for support skills: Shifta, Deband, Resta, Anti.
Territory PP Save -7 PP usage for support skills: Shifta, Deband, Resta, Anti, Megiverse, Zanverse, Zondeel
Wand Gear Adds Wand Gear that causes Tech Explosion. Wand Hits are based on SATK, while Tech Explosions are based on TATK. Both are considered o be Strike damage.
Wand Lovers Activate to maximize Wand Gear and increases normal attack Strike damage by 140%, but causes Mirage Escape to become Step when wielding Wand. Applies to Tech Explosion, but not to Heavy Hammer.
Wand Reactor Adds 40% of Wand's base TATK to SATK.
Wand Gear Element Activate to add 15% chance to inflict status effect depending on Wand's attribute.

The Critical Build and Logic

While Su does not have JA, this is offset by pets having 70% minimum damage, as opposed to other weapon's 90% when using a ★13. Adding as much critical as possible allows pet to reach higher average damage, without compensating any aspects (maybe that 10 PP from 2 Spirita Candy Sticks).

Technics

Several Technics are essential to have. You can obtain them as drops, buy from player shops, or trade them on Excube Shop at L17 for 20 Excubes each.

Icon Name Description
TechResta.png Resta Heals all allied units in an area. Pet will request a Resta sympathy if they have a low HP. Either craft of Resta is fine.
TechAnti.png Anti Restores status effect of all allied units in an area. A full-charged Anti lasts about 5 seconds on the field, you can use this as a preemptive move if you see a status move is incoming, like Elder's ice meteor. Preferred to have Concentrated craft (reduces charge time).
TechShifta.png Shifta Raises base attack power of all allied units in an area. Pet will request Shifta sympathy during battle. Pet needs to have the Shifta buff for increased attack; having Shifta buff on the character is irrelevant to pet's damage. Preferred to have Multi craft (more ticks).
TechDeband.png Deband Raises base defense power of all allied units in an area. Deband is not as essential as Shifta, but is a key skill to have for Bo sub. Preferred to have Multi craft (more ticks).
TechZanverse.png Zanverse Inflicts additional 20% Wind damage when the pet is within the Zanverse radius. Best combined with long-range pets like Popple. Zanversed pet will affect the DoT given to enemy, as long as the pet is on the Zanverse area. Preferred to have Concentrated craft (reduces charge time).
TechMegiverse.png Megiverse Restores HP equal to 25% of damages inflicted if the pet is within the Megiverse radius. Note that since pet does the damage, character will not benefit from the skill at all, unless Potential.pngGlance of Darkness is active. Either craft of Megiverse is fine.

Takt

Takts
Takts

For most of the time, sticking to your regular Takt is fine, but higher rarity Takts has additional effects. Takts are really handy, for one, it does not benefit a +35 grind, not even Rykros Staff (it affects Rykros, but hardly significant). Takts not mentioned here isn't worth obtaining and belong on the same category as "Forgettable".

Must-have Takts

Icon Name Rarity Obtain Description
TaktRykrosStaff.png Rykros Staff ★14 Zieg Trade,
Deus ESC-A,
Any XH Omega Boss EQ
Potential.pngGlance of Darkness provides 2 things during Alter Ego: First, it automatically fulfill Sympathy after 5s (or 3s if Plus). For the Resta Sympathy, it will automatically recovers about 50% of pet HP.
Second, it launches a 2000 power projectile attack (2500 for Glance of Darkness Plus) at every PA during Alter Ego that relies on T-ATK of the character. The faster the PA, the more extra damage you can do; it roughly adds ~20% to overall damage, depending on how slow/fast the Pet PA is. Due to the second-strongest Takt only adds 8% (Liberate), Rykross is the strongest Takt available to attack a single unit.
TaktRoseSkewer.png Rose Skewer ★10 Christmas EQ,
Player Shop
The basic all-class takt. This is essential to have as it also allows you to use pet when you are raising your subclass.

Optional Takts

Icon Name Rarity Obtain Description
TaktLiberate.png Liberate Takt ★15 Zieg Upgrade Potential.pngLiberated Ensemble grants 108% damage, +20% critical rate, and -20% PP cost. At the moment, this is the strongest ★15 takt, but is still overall weaker than Rykros, except when used with Viola. Since it doesnt come with an S5 like the other Liberate, and is only compatible with 1 pet only take this if you don't have any use of other Liberate weapons.
TaktAquaRipple.png Aqua Ripple ★15 L91+ Lizeth Ghidour Potential.pngSouthern Seas grants 106% damage. If the enemy's weakness attribute match the pet's attribute, Pet recovers 1% damage dealt (maxed at 30HP). This is a good Takt for supporting Synchro if it runs low on HP.
TaktDusk.png Miliorazi Dusk ★15 6th Angel Potential.pngCrimson Evening grants 106% damage and restores 2PP every second. This is the strongest all-class takt. It's PP recovery will take place anytime, even during charging Technics and using PAs.
TaktOrb.png Miliorazi Orb ★15 6th Angel,
Cobalt Medal Shop
Potential.pngCrimson Evening grants 106% damage and restores 2PP every second. This is similar to Dusk Takt, but it's Summoner only. It's PP recovery will take place anytime, even during charging Technics and using PAs.
TaktGurenNoYomimusubi.png Guren no Yomimusubi ★14 Zieg Upgrade Potential.pngCrimson Flame Melody grants 102% damage and further 103% damage when attacking elemental weak enemy; total damage is 105.06%. Automatically applies Shifta every 14 seconds to character and pet; Shifta roughly increases pet damage by a whooping 8%.
You can obtain this takt by getting Homura Takt and Vesta Stone from Badge Shop (Weapon Badge SP1), grind it to +35, and upgrade it on Zieg.
Name roughly means "Crimson Lotus Underground Pact".
TaktZara.png Ceres Cicopus Zara ★14 UH Gal Gryphon,
Zieg Upgrade
Potential.pngImmortal Moment grants 103% damage. If you hit an enemy 15 times, a barrier will activate with further boosts damage by 103% (total of 106.09%) and cuts damage by 10% for both you and pet. The barrier will dissipate 15s after the last hit performed. This is the second most powerful ★14 Takt, but you will need to go all the way to upgrade it (collecting Hunting Stones from Naberius/Amduscia/Wopal XH Fields) if Gryphon doesn't drop you one.

Forgettable Takts

Icon Name Rarity Obtain Description
TaktBanStill.png Ban Still ★15 Zieg Upgrade Potential.pngSteadfast Solo grants 110% damage and Pet regenerates 10% HP every 10 seconds. However, if you get hit, the power will be reduced by 1% and the pet-healing property is gone. Minimum power is 106% and will regenerate at 0.4% per second, totaling at 10s to be maxed. When the power is back at 110%, the pet-healing property will return. Damage transferred by Alter Ego counts and will reduce the power. Since the takt doesn't come with damage reduction, natural PP regeneration, or automatic PP regeneration like other Stil, this takt is a waste of effot; go make other Stil instead.
TaktBanPuras.png Ban Puras ★15 Zieg Upgrade Potential.pngEffortless Solo is similar to Steadfast solo, minus the pet-healing property. Please skip this and make another Puras.
TaktAtra.png Atlas Tahat Ex ★15 UH Dragon,
Zieg Upgrade
Potential.pngEternal War Scherzo grants 106% damage and grants pet 1 time protection against stun. The ★14 Atra/Atlas Takt is drop-only from UH Dragon, and you cannot convert any Atra/Atlas weapon into a takt. Seeing that this has the same power as Orb Takt and Orb Takt is easily available from Cobalt Medal Shop, this takt is pretty pointless.
TaktLightstream.png Lightstream Canxion ★15 Zieg Trade (Celestial Upgrade) Potential.pngLightstream Melody grants 105% damage, restores PP fully when PP drops below 20% and further 103% damage for 30 seconds; total damage during boost is 108.15%. Boost and PP restore has 2 minutes cooldown. This works the boost average to be 100.75% (based on an 8 minute EQ), making your actual damage boost about 105.7875%. Being marginally better than Guren, only take this if you don't have any use of other Lightstream weapons. Or if you need a battery for your PP. Regardless, this will not be your mainstay Takt.
TaktQliphadPick.png Zeinesis / Qliphad Pick ★13 Deus EQ Potential.pngMelody of Evil increases natural PP regeneration by 10% and attack PP regain by 15%. It could be good to help you with PP recovery, but it's not really worth it, considering the need of 120 Qliphad Fuse.

Skill Rings

If you plan to use more than 1 L Skill Rings, then it is recommended that you use ★12 units. If you play multiple classes, do not put near auto-target on your unit, as it might be wasteful.

Pet attacks are always Tech, regardless of activated Switch skills. This necessitates Tech-based rings.

Icon Name Description
RingCStrikeTIcon.png R/C Strike Tech +20

RingAtomizerLovers.png L/Atomizer Lover

Increases usage speed when using Atomizer and grants invulnerability while doing so. Grinding is optional to increase the potency of Atomizer (up to 160%).
RingTechCParrying.png L/C Tech Parry +20
L/テックCパリング
Provides 0.6s of frontal Just Guard when charging a technique using a Tech weapon (Rod, Talis, Wand, Jet Boots, Takt). This is optional, but can be handy if you master the rather lenient timing. Should you decide to acquire this, grinding is a must.
RingMagExcite.png L/Mag Excite +20
L/マグエキサイト
Increase damage and frequency of Mag's normal action. If you set a Mag's normal action to Megid, it can do a quite a dent to enemy, as well as poison the lesser mobs. While it can aid your damage as long as the mag has energy, it can backfire against Anga Fhandarge as it will have increased chance to resist your Takt. Should you decide to use this, grinding is a must.

Units

If you don't have the resource to obtain this, stick to whatever units that you can obtain. If you have the resource, gear toward raising your T-ATK and PP. It is generally better if you use ★13 units or units upgradable to ★13 for future-proofing :

★13 75 60 15 A solid choice only rivaled by replacing Liberate Rear with Dusk Rear. Liberate units are an upgrade of Novell units (available from Weapon Badge 2020), which requires a lot of untradable materials. If you have the materials to upgrade, do so, if not, consider using Schvelle.

★12 50 100 15 The most well-balanced ★12 unit, but unfortunately it's hard to get. You can obtain this by upgrading a Celestial (星震纏) unit with Erebos stone, all obtainable from Dark Falz Persona. Lightstream upgrade is promised on a PSO2 Station Stream, but don't count on it.
Unit-レアサブ.png Stella Wall

★12 15 50 5 You'll gain thee of this from raising two classes to L75. They are decent units if you don't have a solid unit yet
Unit-レアサブ.png Weapons Barrier

★7 0 100 0 You'll gain few of these units from clearing Missions and Koffie's Client Order. They are very strong crutch if you're low-leveled.
For the total stat amount (from special ability affix and unit), I recommend the following value:
Stat Minimum Recommended High
T-ATK1 100 135 170+
HP2 80 100 120+
PP3 20 25 40+
S6 Any Wise Skill
守護の備
S7 Mind Merge
以心伝心
T-ATK Up
法撃上昇
Glowing Grace
輝静の恵
S7 Any T-ATK Up
法撃上昇
Sky Dance's Boon
舞空の援
1 T-ATK value here is the total from your units and affix. For example, the Schvelle Units has base TATK of 50, so you only need to affix 50 T-ATK to reach minimum. Same with HP and PP. T-ATK recommended value is based on total unit T-ATK addition of 400
2 Recommended HP value is based on your character able to have 1200+ HP on Level 90. This is a recommended value if you're going to play another class. If not, you can just hung on to the HP given by your unit.
3 Recommended PP value is based on your character able to have 200 PP on Level 90.

Part 3: Pet Raising

Pet Raising
Pet Raising

Your pet has a different mechanics that that of a normal weaponry. Here, pet raising will be discussed from the basic topics like its parameters, to the more advanced topics, like its candy box.

Pet's Properties

Pet has several important properties, from Rarity, Personality, Elemental Attribute, and Pet Plus.

A window displaying egg information.
A window displaying egg information.

Rarity and Rarity Upgrade

Pet Evolution
Pet Evolution

A pet has a rarity that determines their highest level. Rarity can be upgraded at the Pet Lab if you have a higher rarity egg of the same species (i.e. You can only increase rarity of a ★7 Viola with a ★8 Viola). Once a pet reaches L100, you can Limit Break them by asking Pietro for free.
Rarity Max Level
★6 L60
★7 L65
★8 L70
★9 L75
★10 L85
★11 L90
★12 L110
★13 L120
★14 L130

Rarity upgrade also allows you to change pet's personality, provided the fodder egg has different personality and at least of the same rarity.

Wanda, Torim, and Cery can be rarity upgraded to Jinga, Aero, and Popple, respectively. Be warned that if you say, evolve Wanda to Jinga, you need another Jinga Egg to rarity upgrade it. That being said, there are no reason to pick Wanda over Jinga, Torim over Aero, or Cery over Popple. Jinga, Aero, and Popple are superior in every aspects, unless your Wanda, Torim, and Cery are ★14.

Personality

Personality is similar to weapon potential. They have varied effect, but most prominent is increasing damage. Personality has 5 levels and is automatically raised as pet levels up (Pet L100 is where you can attain L5 Personality). Pets up to ★13 rarity have a preferred personality, as shown below; but this becomes irrelevant once pet reaches ★14 rarity, which gives it a third personality that combines both personality. Changing personality can be hard or impossible as it requires egg of at least the same rarity.

Pet Preferred ★13 Personality ★14 Personality
Wanda / Jinga (either) Powerful
Torim / Aero Diligent Elite
Cery / Popple Adept Pop
Maron Adverse Cute
Melon Fierce Cute
Rappy (only have 1 Personality)
Viola Poser Elegant
Synchro Devoted Gentle
Redran Rowdy Rock

"Super" personality (e.g. Super Fervent, Super Diligent) will have an additional effect of raising Rare Drop Rate by 5%. "Super" personality's effect is included on a pet's ★14 personality. Please note that "Super" personality is not worth the price. If you can get one for free, feel free use it (or sell it), else don't bother with it.

Changing personality: can be close to impossible for high rarity pet. If you have a ★13 pet whose personality you want to change, you need another ★13 egg with different personality, or a ★14 egg.

Elemental Attribute

Pets starts with a 10 attribute value that is visible upon viewing the egg. Ideally, you will want the default attribute to be Light. You can change attribute by putting Lemonade in the Candy Box, but changing to Light Attribute is very costly. Attribute can be raised by putting Pancakes. Pets with ★12 rarity or below will have a maximum of 50 attribute, while a ★13 or above will have 60 attribute.

Attribute directly affects pet damage. Let's say you have a pet with 1000 ATK (any attack) with 50 Light attribute. While in the information screen the pet has 1000 ATK, it effectively has:

1000 ATK + 50/100 * 1000 ATK = 1500 ATK

If the pet attacks a target which is weak to Light element, its effective attack will be:

1000 ATK + 50/100 * 1.2 * 1000 ATK = 1600 ATK

And thus, raising element is the best way to increase overall pet's damage.

Warning! Always appraise Egg to Light-attribute and always hatch Light-attribute pets if you want to raise them properly.

Pet Plus

A pet has extra HP, S-ATK, R-ATK, T-ATK, and DEX to be raised. This is called Pet Plus, as seen on the figure below.

A Pet Plus of a Rappy, not yet maximized.
A Pet Plus of a Rappy, not yet maximized.

Each pet type has a different plus value cap; any Wanda will have same the same cap, but a Jinga will have different cap than Wanda. Pet Plus can make or break pet: Rappy is quite weak without its all stat +250 Pet Plus cap. However, pet's Plus value will be close-to-maxed, if not maxed, once they reach L120 by feeding random Pet eggs.

Feeding another pet egg to increase the Pet Plus.
Feeding another pet egg to increase the Pet Plus.

Remember! Pet Plus will usually be maxed, if not near-maxed, it you continue to feed other pet eggs to your pet! You might be maxing them without even realizing!

Egg Synthesis / Pet Level Up

Level up pet by using [Egg Synthesis] on Pet menu. Unleveled pet is only as frightening as a Rappy Doll room item. A pet can be feed (synthesized) with an EXP Egg or another pet egg. If you are a Summoner main, you will have a steady drop of EXP Eggs. The Pet Lab can exchange grinders for ★6 EXP egg or Photon Sphere for ★12 EXP Egg.

Warning! A Level 1 Pet is as intimidating as a L1 Rappy. Level your pet properly!

You can use Synthesis Charge to boost the EXP gained from eggs. It will cost 10 SG the first 3 times. This is best used on L100+ pet after Limit Break; feed them at least ★12 EXP Eggs.

Candy Box

This is the last aspect of pet raising. Candy Box is akin to putting affix to regular weapons or units. A pet always starts with a 8x8 candy box that is filled with Gelatin Cube (Blue), Caramel Cube (Orange), and Paper Cube (Gray). Each pet type has a different box layout, for the exception of Wanda/Jinga, Torim/Aero, and Cery/Popple.

Candy Box Basics

Below is an example of a fresh Wanda/Jinga box:

Freshly hatched Wanda's Candy Box
Freshly hatched Wanda's Candy Box

Blue Gelatin Cubes will be removed automatically once a pet reaches level 50 (or so).

Brown Caramel Cubes, require Caramel Crusher (8 Excubes) to remove. A pet will always start with 8 Caramel Cubes, requiring you to spend 64 Excubes per pet.

Gray Paper Cube cannot be removed. Makes you wonder why since they are supposed to be paper.

Candy Types

A Candy Box can hold a limited amount of candies. It is a good idea to compress candies first before putting it to candy box. Compressing candies require Meseta and Grinders. Parfaits will require Lambda Grinders.
From the most important candies:

Icon Candy Type Description
Pancake.png Pancakes Pancakes are the second most important candy, an they increase the elemental value. You can only put 2 of them, requiring you to have 3-Layers and 2-Layer pancakes to maximize a ★13 pet's element. You need 160 Synthesizers to create a 2-Layer Pancake (8 Excubes) and 1050 Synthesizer to create a 3-Layer Pancake (53 Excubes). For newbies, start with 2 2-Layer Pancakes and destroy one of them when you have the resource to create the 3-Layer Pancake. They can be compressed 3 times to a 2x2 size. All pancakes require 6 Grinders and either 9869 Meseta (1-Layer), 25194 Meseta (2-Layer), and 42214 Meseta (3-Layer).
Parfaits.png Parfaits Parfait is the most important candy on the box, and they usually boosts damage. You can only put 2 and as a special rule just for them, they have to be different kind of parfait. A parfait can be compressed 4 times to a 2x2 size, costing a total of 12 Lambda Grinders and 636300 Meseta.
Rolls.png Rolls Rolls are the third most important candy, and they have a varied uses. You can put 2 rolls and they can be compressed twice. Depending on the roll's rarity, it will cost 6 Grinders and 28459 Meseta for a ★10, 8 Grinders and 59347 Meseta for an ★11, and finally 10 Grinders and 82625 Meseta for a ★12.
Cookie.png Cookies Cookies adds stat, and they are akin to affixes, meaning that their stat increase will not contribute to elemental multiplier. You can put 3 cookies in a candy box. For basic users, put the same cookie as your character's best attack stat. By default, this is your T-ATK, so stock Technic Cookies. For advanced users, stock Spirita Cookies for later as they will come in handy with ★14 Pets. Cookies can be compressed 3 times, costing a total of 6 Grinders and 25205 Meseta.
Stick_Candy.png Candy Sticks Candy sticks have varying properties, but they usually increase stats without needing to be compressed. You can put 4 candy sticks in a candy box.
Sandwich.png Sandwiches Sandwiches raises one type of defense by 100, depending their name. They don't require compression either. You can put 5 sandwiches in a candy box, but most often you will only need 1 to 3.
Soda.png Sodas The Sode / Lemonade / Ramune changes the element of the pet. This requires 1 Attribute Changer and 100 Synthesizer. They can be compressed twice to a 1x1 size. While their compression price is negligible, the Attribute Changer is an entirely different thing. Non-light attribute can be anywhere around 100K-1M Meseta on the Player Shop, while the Light Attribute Changer can go around 2M-5M+.
PetGummy.png Gummies Gummies adds 10 HP and they are 1x1 each. Use them to fill the gap caused by other candies.
Crepe.png Crepes Crepes adds things like EXP gain rate, rare drop rate, and Meseta gain rate. However, at maximum compression, they are still a 2x2 candy and their minuscule boosts is not worth sacrificing that kind of space.

Candy Box Tools

As you fill your Candy Box, you might notice that you can remove a few candies to add more useful candies. This is where these tools come in handy. Two of them can be found at Ariel's Pet Good Shop, and the Removers (that returns candy to your inventory) are only available from SG Shop.

Icon Tool Description
CaramelCrusher.png Caramel Crusher Deletes a caramel cube. Costs 8 Excubes.
CandyEraser.png Candy Eraser Deletes a candy. Costs 10 Grinders.
CandyRemover.png Candy Remover Contrary to its name, this returns a candy to your inventory. Costs 1 SG at SG shop.

Part 4: Pets

The other important thing beside raising your pet properly is how to use them properly. There are a number of pets for a Summoner, each with their own specific purpose.

Part 3 Objectives, you will be able to:
  • Deploy different pet according best suited on their strength and weakness
  • Use the highest DPS move whenever possible
  • Use DoT attacks to maximize damage
  • Use Recall PA to bring pet back to your side
  • Assemble each pet's candy box to the recommendation

Glossary

Please note the following glossary before reading the detailed description of each pets.
Terms Description
Damage A rough calculation based on pet's average ATK (Pet Plus included) at L130 (★14 rarity) using assumption that Character has 1000 ATK, 400 T-ATK affix total (Units and Pets), and enemy with 350 T-DEF. Personality and Other Candy Box contents are ignored unless specified.
DPS Rating Rating of Damage per second, calculated roughly by damage divided by frame, divided by average damage of Pet PAs. This is solely used to determine which pet attack is more powerful when used over and over. It does not mean that it is the most efficient attack.
Recall PA A Photon Arts (PA) that returns pet to your side and stops it from using further attack. This will pause the effect of Near Auto Target ring. Unless noted, pet will perform the move first before returning.
DoT Damage-over-time, inflicts small damage over a set amount of time. It is similar to Poison, but is not counted as a status effect, hence do not activate Chase Advance Plus. A DoT skill will sucessfully deliver damage if the first hit lands, even if the part is hidden or the pet got stunned. However, it will cancel if the affected part is destroyed, or pet is unsummoned.
Frame The amount of frame required to finish the attack 1 second (1s) consists of 60 frames (60f). The smaller the frame for PA, the better the utilization for Rykros Staff's Potential.pngGlance of Darkness.
Potential.pngGlance of Darkness (GoD) The damaging projectile of Rykros Staff during Alter Ego. In this guide, it is assumed that the projectile hits.

Warning! DPS values are only used as a relative value to compare one pet's damage to another! Do not use it for any other purpose than this!

Example 1: Despite Aero having higher base T-ATK, Viola's normal attacks (1461 T-ATK, 27-30 DPS) are way stronger than Aero's (1508 ATK, 11-18 DPS).

Example 2: The game listed that Jinga Slicer has 2325 Power, while Melon Break has 1586 Power. Below you will find the DPS of Jinga Slicer is 59, while Melon Break is 70, thus using Melon Break is ~18.6% stronger than Jinga Slicer.

Wanda / Jinga (ワンダ/ジンガ)

PetWandaIcon.png
PetJingaIcon.png
Wanda / Jinga

A pet without real weakness, dubbed "Almighty Pet" in Japan. They have a rather efficient PP usage (even more efficient on Wanda), solid DPS, powerful normal attacks, high HP, high defense, and easy to use PAs. When in doubt of what pet to use, Wanda or Jinga is never a wrong choice.

★14 Wanda is more durable with higher HP and Def. ★14 Jinga has higher ATK and upgraded Jinga Assault, having a wider attack area and higher multiplier. There are little reasons to use Wanda, so the numbers listed on here are based on Jinga.

Personality.pngFervent (こんじょう) Small chance to endure damage that would otherwise killed it. Gains few seconds of invulnerability when activated as well as 60s of 115% damage incease. Preferable on EQs, although Jinga itself is not easy to KO.

Torim / Aero (トリム/アエロ)

PetTorimIcon.png
PetAeroIcon.png
Torim / Aero

A pet with high powered PAs, focusing on quality over quantity. They are best suited to pursuit agile enemies with their fast Stab and their double DoT attacks. Their main weakness is their lack of wide area attack, PP inefficiency, low defense, and weakest normal attacks (i.e. not worth for Spirited Parfait). If you can, switch to Torim or Aero during a boss' downtime, such as when Dragon drops its head, Deus showing its core etc. and perform Shout then Spiral to their weak points. In order to maximize their damage, try to land as many full-charged Shout-Spiral as you can.

★14 Torim is more durable with higher HP and Def and less PP usage. ★14 Aero has higher ATK, upgraded Aero Spriral (wider attack area) and Aero Slash (stronger). There are little reasons to use Torim, so the numbers listed on here are based on Aero.

Torim and Aero are currently having limited uses as they are outclassed by their glass cannon peers: Synchro and Popple; and fellow avian, Rappy.

Personality.pngDocile (おりこうさん) 121% damage on enemies with a status effect. Since EQ bosses does not get status effect like normal enemies, the boost will be useless there.
Personality.pngElite (エリート) ★14 only. Combines Diligent and Docile, as well as having increased rare item drop rate.

  • High ATK
  • Stab is a low-risk, high damage PA
  • Weakest normal attack
  • Third lowest DEF
  • High PP usage
  • Low PP regain from attacks
  • Low DPS rate in the long run because low PP regain.
  • Requires constant use of Shouted Spiral Charge 2 in order to reach full potential
  • Torim recovers long from stun

Cery / Popple (サリィ/ポップル)

PetCeryIcon.png
PetPoppleIcon.png
Cery / Popple

A long-range support pet, best at taking down a large quantity of enemies. They are risky to use against bosses that moves too much because its main DPS attack tends to miss. However, their easy-to-use nature allows you to utilize Zanverse together with their attacks.

Cery and Popple can jam. Pressing a PA button at the same time when they lose target will cause them to skip the said PA, but will still cost PP. Mind the timing between PAs.

★14 Cery is more durable with higher HP and Def and less PP usage. ★14 Popple has higher ATK and upgraded Popple Plode (chargeable and stronger hit, but lower DPS). There are little reasons to use Cery (even less than Wanda-Jinga or Torim-Aero), so the numbers listed on here are based on Popple.

Strength Weakness
  • Suitable for all player skills
  • Long-range attacks
  • Stays close to player almost all time, reducing risk of getting hit
  • High PP regain from normal attack
  • Has Jellen (lowers ATK by 15%) on its most powerful DPS attack
  • Most powerful DPS attack costs a measly 5PP
  • Most powerful and widest area attack
  • Has a homing attack that also knocks enemy down
  • Has an attack that clusters enemy
  • Highly usable with Zanverse to increase output further
  • Prone to jamming
  • Weak DEF
  • Beside homing attack, all projectiles are slow
  • Cery recovers long from stun

Maron (マロン)

PetMaronIcon.png Maron

A defensive pet with self-explosion ability. Maron is best used when your enemy are overly aggressive, like Dragon. Once was popular pet before damage cap was implemented. With damage cap in place, Maron Strike's capped 1M damage does lower DPS that its required setup. Using Maron for Strike attack only will lower their DPS a lot; consider using the strike as a bonus damage and focus on using Curse and Break as primary DPS.

Maron's size has 3 stages, which powers up their Strike. The 1st stage is default; Maron will always be on 1st stage if you summon them. The 2nd stage is reached after 3 hits, in which Maron becomes big. The 3rd stage is reached after 9 hits, in which Maron becomes even bigger with flames coming out of their body. You have 15 seconds to perform Maron strike before Maron explodes on your hand and reduce your HP to a fraction.

Unlike Melon, Maron has limited use on regular EQs. Its overreliance on Maron Strike 3 to do damage become it's main weakness. Its main combo (Curse-Break) is only rated at 73, way lower than the standard of Jinga. It's niche, however, is in solo "hard difficulty" quest which features multi-hit bosses, i.e. Phaleg, Omega Masquerade, and Shiva. In those quest, you can throw Maron Strike 3 in under 30s and swap to another Maron. This increases their DPS potential closer to a Maxed Rowdy Redran.

  • Can shield character from damage
  • High PP regain from normal attack
  • Has a high-powered DoT attack
  • Has a bouncing homing attack
  • Suicide attack requires 30-60 seconds to set up, thus making it unsuitable for bosses that's not aggressive (i.e. almost all bosses are not aggressive, the only really aggressive ones are Omega Masquerade, Phaleg, and Omega Hunar).
  • Requires more than 1 Maron to properly take advantage of its suicide attack
  • Recovers long from stun

3 Overall DPS Rating: The greater the number, the greater the pet's DPS potential is. Maron's counterpart, similar PAs with different Strike mechanic. Melon has lowest HP among all pets, but highest defense among all. Hold the Strike PA button after throwing melon to catch it back.

Melon size's stage is reached faster, needing only 1 hit for 2nd Stage and 2 hits for 3rd Stage. Melon will revert to 1st Stage after spending 15 seconds on 3rd Stage, instead of blowing up the player.

A ★14 Melon will have 5000 S-DEF, along with 300 more ATK compared to Maron.

Rappy (ラッピー)

PetRappyIcon.png Rappy

An all-rounder pet, very friendly to newbies, although obtaining their eggs is not newbie friendly (Rare drop from XH Deus, Dragon, Omega Luther). Rappy invokes the Magikarp Power: its stat before L120 are not impressive, and has 250 points to fill on each stat of Pet Plus; Level 100 and 120 Rappy has attack differences of almost 400 points. They notably have strongest normal attacks, albeit smaller hit box. This is both blessing and a curse since it is more accurate to hit a weak point, but easier to miss moving enemies. They are also the only pet to have a healing PA.

Rappy is the best pet to abuse Braver sub's Attack Advance. Stacking Attack Advance and Spirited Parfait turns Rappy's normal attack into a PA, essentially allowing you to win boss fights by just holding Normal Attack Button.

Viola (ヴィオラ)

PetViolaIcon.png Viola

A pet that is best for soloing, as it has an effective hate generation, unlike the Launcher PA Fake Silhouette. Bosses will even more likely to target Viola rather than other people in an EQ. Viola's regular PA are similar to Wanda, albeit lacking a reliable area attack. Viola's stats are not very impressive, and this including their defense. Using Viola Change, however, increases their defense and changes how their PA works: exerting high-powered damage, high DPS, and enormous hit box in expense of slower animation and sluggish PP regeneration. Due to how Change mechanic works, Viola is the only pet that gets stronger by using Liberate Takt.

Viola is the signature pet of Manaka.

Synchro (NA: Shinkuro) (シンクロウ)

PetSynchroIcon.png Synchro

The pet for taking down bosses quickly. Has the highest DPS among all pets, but is hardest to use, and get stunned quickly. Synchro's setup requires you to have superfluous amount of PP (above 150, 185 would be ideal), them to be summoned after a stunned pet (best using Melon); after that, you need to learn to use different PA in order to power up Synchro Geki. Synchro is the best pet to use with Bouncer sub and good to take down Magatsu and Luther.

Notably, Syncro's PA names are left transliterated rather than translated. The translated name would be: Slash (Zan), Fists (Ken), Kick (Kyaku), Sever (Dan), and Beat (Geki).

1 DPS: Damage Per Second, the higher the better.
2 Normal Attack DPS Rating: The DPS rating of Normal Attacks. Hold is the DPS if you hold the normal attack button. Auto is the number if you let the pet attack freely. If only Hold exists, then the pet will do less if you don't hold the button. The number in bracket is the restored PP per second, disregarding natural PP regen.
3 Overall DPS Rating: The greater the number, the greater the pet's DPS potential is. This is calculated by using Glance of Darkness with Rykros Staff +30, during standard case scenario: Phantom sub, enemy is weak to pet's element, enemy isn't moving, a pair of 110% damage parfaits, using PA to deplete 200PP, then use Normal Attacks to get back 200PP (boosted natural PP regen and attack PP regen due to Phantom sub is calculated).

Redran (レドラン)

PetRedranIcon.png Redran

A long-range pet that can tear multi-part enemies, such as Ragne and Vibras, quickly. On the reverse side, they also can tear down Redran quickly. Redran has the highest ATK among all pets, but also the lowest def of all pets, with about 120 HP less than Synchro and only 60 DEF better.

Redran, along with Cery and Popple, can jam. Pressing a PA button at the same time when they lose target will cause them to skip the said PA, but will still cost PP. Mind the timing between PAs.

I believe Redran is a portmanteau of Laser Dragon (ーザードラ), thus their name should be Ladran (read: leɪdræn). Would be too difficult to read, though.

Redran has minimal use on EQ outside seasonal and defense, especially because they tend to run out of PP quickly. In addition, Redran is hard-pressed to secure the number of kills it needed in UH fields, further hampering its usage.

Personality.pngRowdy (あばれんぼう) Raises damage by 2% for each enemy killed by Redran; capped at 50% or 150% damage total. The bonus will be reset upon entering campship and unsummoning Redran. This would be the preferred personality.
Personality.pngHawkish (とうそうしん) Raises damage depending on number of enemies near the Redran. 106% for 1-4 enemies, 112% for 5 enemies and above. Since Redran is a long-range pet that has a low durability, this skill becomes counterproductive for its survival, specially since it does not do much in boss EQs.
Personality.pngRock (ロック) ★14 only. Combines Rowdy and Hawkish, as well as having increased rare item drop rate.

  • Beside recall, all other attacks are slow
  • Low HP

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What units / armors should I use?

If you just started the game and have no idea on affixing a unit:

  • You can get 1 Weapons Barrier (サブ/ウェポンズバリア) from clearing Koffie's quest Training Quest Certification (練習クエスト履修証明). You can utilize all 3 characters to obtain multiple copies of it. Until L75, this is the best unit you can obtain.
  • You can get 3 Stella Walls (サブ/ステラウォール) from Lachesis the Title Counter when you have 2 L75 classes.
  • You can get Ray units — Circu Ray, Circa Ray, Circ Ray — from Badge and Memory Shop. You need 10 Weapons Badge SP on Shop 1 for each of them.

What should I use against ____?

Wanda or Jinga is always your the first pet that you should use when you are testing new boss or content. They have no real weakness and is suitable for every possible scenario.

Wanda or Jinga?

This depends on your playstyle. Wanda has better defense and more efficient Slicer, while Jinga has overall better DPS.

Cery or Popple?

Popple is overall better since it has Charged Popple Plode, a wide area attack; and its main DPS move, Popple Curse, only cost 5 PP.

Torim or Aero?

Torim has slightly better defense, although it doesn't help much. Aero's Charged Shout Spiral 2 have wider area of attack and less PP cost. Since the bulk of Aero's DPS is from Shout Spiral (using 2 seconds Charged Shout Spiral is already better than Shout Slash), having it easier to hit is a big plus. In practice however, both has minimal use.

Maron or Melon?

Neither are practical for mobbing, so let's assume it's for bossing. Maron is more useful if the boss is overly aggressive and have high attack, like Omega Masquerade, Episode 4 Phaleg, and the inhabitants of the solo XQ Phantom. Melon is more useful if the boss isn't aggressive, and is even more useful of both if you have both a ★14 Melon and a Rykros Staff. Conditions aside, Maron needs to take 9 hits to maximize its Strike PA and it will be incapacitated after. Melon needs only 2 hits to maximize its Strike PA, but if you hold the PA button after the throwing animation, you can catch Melon back, like a yo-yo. Both require you to use their Curse attack once every 10 seconds.

Should I have multiple elemental pets?

It's generally not recommended to, especially if you have limited resources.

What about this ____ Parfait?

  • Some parfait have niche use, and isn't compliant to the more general use.
  • Any parfait that requires you to have certain % of PP is not recommended since your PP fluctuates easily.
  • Any parfait that requires pet to have low HP is not recommended since you'll want pets to have full HP.
  • Daredevil is not recommended because it greatly reduces PP efficiency. It is better for you to PA more often than using normal more often.

What is the best parfait combination?

One that fits your play style. I refrain from naming best parfait combination because that would kill experimentation.

Do S Eggs have any difference than regular eggs, apart from color?

No. They are akin to having a shiny Pokemon.

Why recommend Spirita Cookies at all? Doesn't Shifta affect pet's total ATK?

  • This is my personal choice. 15 PP would be more useful in long run, especially with Ph's Critical Stream than just mere ~2% damage.
  • The ATK increase Shifta formula for pet is (Shifta Power / 1000 + 1% * Number of Support Roll) * (Base ATK * Drink * Tree + Unit Total ATK + Pet Plus)
    • Base ATK is Character's Base ATK + Mag + Status Up Skills + S-Ability Stat Up
    • ATK Cookies are not affected by Shifta (analogous to how weapon special ability affix isn't included in Shifta)
    • Pet ATK are not affected by Shifta
    • Takts are not affected by Shifta

What special ability affix do you put in your units?

It changes, surprisingly, yearly. Although 2019 and 2020 was a half-impulse (2019 was on the first appearance of Grace, and surprisingly cheap; 2020 was the first appearance of Grand Spirita, and it was also surprisingly cheap):

  • 2017 affix on Qliphad: Tech III, Spirita III, Ares the Soul, Doom Break I, Elegant Tech
  • 2018 affix on Evleada: Tech III, Stam III, Ares the Soul, Doom Break I, Grace Tech
  • 2019 affix on Lightstream: Ares the Soul, Doom Break II, Persona Reverie, Arks Max, Grace Stamina
  • 2020 affix on Orb and Liberate: S-Ability, Ares The Soul, Doom Break II, Persona Reverie, Fordruss Glare, Grand Spirita

The 2018 Affix has higher T-ATK now it's upgraded to Schvelle (and given to other character), but does not affect average damage.

Why you seem to focus on PP rather than T-ATK?

  • I like my PP to hit 300 for Maximum Critical Stream bonus :)
  • 400 attack affix is a good spot to stop. You can go to 500 for extra 2% damage or 600 for 4% damage, but it's just few percent for a significantly higher budget.
  • Your attack affix is only half-relevant to your output. There's also combos, PP management, frame saving, and your enemy's profile.
  • Focusing on PP is cheaper and easier. This makes me able to move on to a new set of unit should the need (e.g. future proofing) and impulse (cheap Add Special Ability items) arises, rather than needlessly stick to my old units.
  • All my excess meseta can go to sexy costumes and sexy lobby actions.

I disagree with your guide!

By all means, contact me on my discord. Your disagreement could be my oversight, and I like to keep updating my guide :)

How did you come up with the multiplier number?

The numbers are calculated by comparing total damage from a certain sub to a subless state.

1 Ringed multiplier: Class Damage Multiplier * Ring. This only affects Fi with Effort Ring.
2 HLB: High Level Bonus
3 Class CRate: Critical rate from the sub class, assuming all skills taken
4 Candy CRate: Critical rate from candies, 14% from 2 Critical Candy Sticks and 20% from 2 Support Rolls, totaling 34%
5 Class CDmg: Critical damage from class. This is usually 1.
6 Σ CRate: Class Critical Rate + Candy Critical Rate + 5%. The base critical rate 5% is added here. For example, with no sub, it is only Candy + 5% = 39%
7 Σ CDmg: Class Critical Damage * Ring Critical Damage. Ring critical damage is 3% at +20, unless Fi, which uses Effort Symbol

8 ARate: The rate in which you do non-critical damage, or the rate of you doing average damage. This is 100% - Critical Rate.
9 Average Multiplier: the multiplier of average damage. This is 85% * Average Damage Rate * Ringed Multiplier. Since Su's damage swing is between 70% to 100%, (average of 85%) the constant of 85% is added.
10 Critical Multiplier: the multiplier of critical damage. This is Σ CRate * Σ CDmg * Ringed Multiplier
11 Σ Multiplier: Total multiplier of Average and Critical. This is Average Multiplier + Critical Multiplier
